People love free stuff.
Facebook giveaways can scratch that itch for your customers, and there are lots of ways to do it. I found some great examples of Facebook contests for giveaways here, here, and here, but I wanted to highlight those that I think are easiest for any small business.
Beyond being quick and simple, these Facebook contests also intentionally share these common traits:
- They require engagement beyond just a simple “like.”
- They offer a chance for your customers to show their personalities.
- They give you an opportunity to brag on your customers.
Caption Contest
A caption contest invites your customers into your world for a little fun. Winners can be randomly selected by you or can be picked by most “likes.”

Trivia
Test your customer’s knowledge with fill-in-the-blank or multiple choice trivia. You can pick the winner at random from those who guessed the right answer.

If you want to extend the trivia beyond just one question, check out this road-trip game idea.
Fan of the Week
This is a great way for you to brag on your customers. You can either randomly select your fan of the week from your follower list, or you can have them submit a picture as their entry. Submitting a picture is a great way for your followers to get creative, but it’s also important to note that requiring that type of engagement does equate to a higher barrier of entry.
